Minu

22,00

A great red wine, with fine and delicious relief, punchy with energy and precision.

Minu means “kitty” in French. The wine is more like a panther actually!

It is a great red wine I am particularly proud of: fine and powerful, chiseled, fruity and captivating, with a subtle chalky minerality.

Its forgotten grape variety, Minustellu, is not yet listed by the Corsican appellations.

Minu owes everything to its limestone terroir, which is extremely rare in Corsica and is worked biodynamically.

Have fun having your guests taste it blind 🙂

Welcome to the far south! Admiring these beautiful cliffs? Would you like to see them for real? Here’s a taste…

Best wine from Southern Corsica... the new winery ALPA surprises everybody!

ALPA Corsican Red wine Minustellu has a beautiful robe between violet and purple, scents of the maquis where the smoked cade appears upfront, followed by hints of sage, thyme, and iodine, before speaking to us  red berries reminiscent of arbutus and blackberry. In short, a concentrate of Corsica… In the mouth, the freshness surprises with its delicacy. This delicacy subtly highlights the aromas of red and black fruits, tinged with oriental spices like sandalwood and cubeb pepper. Orientalism that transforms the arbutus into mangosteen. All surrounded by a veil of smoke mixed with slightly salty sea spray. ALPA Minestellu reveals itself best after 2 to 3 years in the bottle. A beautiful bottle for dishes such as grills accompanied by piperade, but also some seafood products such as octopus salad and linguine with lightly tomatoed clams. In autumn, delicate game meats such as venison and poultry with woodland mushrooms accompany it gracefully. A very nice discovery from ALPA Winery, the result is of a very high standard. The wines are juicy, refined, infused, and of incredible class every time! ALPA works here with a flagship grape of Corsica that I particularly appreciate: the Minustellu. It has the peculiarity of ripening very late and developing aromas of red fruits and cocoa nibs. The good idea is to have aged the Corsican red wine Minustellu  in a 1/2 muid, a kind of 500-liter barrel that brings a lot of substance and density to the wine. It is a fleshy, spicy wine that despite its relatively young age shows all its potential. Open it in 2/3 years with a leg of lamb, you will see the harmony will be sumptuous. The juicy mouth is of beautiful delicacy, elegant, flavorful, and persistent. A very pretty wine with velvety sweetness. In the mouth, we enjoy a beautiful combination of fruits, undergrowth, floral notes, macerated cherries. There is a very salivating texture, tannin, but at the same time the substance presents a certain clayish silkiness, it is long in the mouth, it is bloody and saline. The terroir can be guessed easily: by the sea, clay and limestone soil. Corsica is mainly made of granites, so you can guess the vines area quite easily if you know Corsica vineyard. Since ALPA winery gets some of the best rows of vine from the most prestige domains in the island, the secret must be preserved though. That is the only shame about this wine: ALPA winery will sell you a maximum of 6 bottles ; that is the limited edition policy.

Discover a great biodynamic Corsican red wine. ALPA’s favorite, sublime a unique Corsican grape variety, Minustellu, prized for its exceptional red wine production. Originating from the far south of this enchanting island, Minustellu ALPA embodies the most beautiful essence of its terroir, with distinctive characteristics that reveal all the flavors of this still-secret grape variety.

Minou is cultivated biodynamically on a clay-limestone plot located at an altitude of 500 meters and bathed in sea spray. Alban’s first Minustellu already has its place among the great Corsican wines. Its late maturity gives the grapes intense aromas of red fruits with a subtle touch of spices.

Wines from Minustellu are distinguished by their deep ruby color with violet reflections and their delicate nose, exhaling bewitching notes. On the palate, the structure is balanced, with fine and silky tannins that give way to a persistent and flavorful finish.

Appreciated by connoisseurs for its complexity and aging potential, Minustellu perfectly accompanies Mediterranean gastronomic dishes, grilled red meats, and delicate game. Its elegance and finesse make it an ideal choice for special occasions.

At ALPA, we put all our expertise into this emblematic grape variety to produce an exceptional wine that celebrates the authenticity and richness of Corsican viticultural heritage.
